Gaza: Cartography of Genocide
Forensic Architecture’s project, is an investigation into Israel’s conduct in Gaza since 7 October 2023.
It maps thousands of events to reveal how evacuation orders, displacement, and the systematic destruction of civilian, medical, agricultural, and aid infrastructure combined to devastate conditions for civilian life in Gaza.
This report draws on a research project independently undertaken following the start of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza in October 2023. The project uses FA’s research methodologies to construct a comprehensive dataset and interactive interface, which we refer to as the ‘General Cartographic Database’ (‘GCD’; see more on the GCD in Methodology, below).
Data exported from the GCD has constituted the basis of several reports we have published since October 2023, including:
Inhumane Zones: An assessment of Israel’s actions with respect to the provision of aid, shelter, safe passage, and assistance to evacuees in Gaza; response to questions raised in the ICJ on 17 May 2024 (pub. 19 May 2024);
