HIC Supports HIC-AL’s Statement on the U.S. Military Intervention in Venezuela
From the General Secretariat of the International Habitat Coalition (HIC), we express our full support for the statement issued by HIC-AL regarding the military intervention in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. We share their commitment to defending human rights related to habitat, peace, and the self-determination of peoples, and we strongly condemn the military attacks and any armed actions directed against Venezuela.
We agree that the interventions of 3 January 2026, constitute a serious crime, violating Article 2 of the United Nations Charter and Article 5 of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, undermining sovereignty and the self-determination of peoples, and resulting in the loss of over 80 human lives.
As HIC Global, we stand in solidarity with our member organizations, friends, and allies in Venezuela, with its population, and with all peoples whose peace and right to adequate habitat are under threat. We reaffirm that no external intervention can be justified under pretexts of security, or the fight against crime[, especially] when it actually conceals geopolitical, economic, and territorial-control interests.
We also fully support the call for the Venezuelan people to resolve their political and social crisis through peaceful, democratic means, through dialogue and respect for human rights, ensuring the dignity and well-being of the entire population.
