Al-Shuja`iya Neighborhood in Gaza Completely Destroyed

Abu Muhammad Mushtahi, who had returned to his home in the Al-Shuja`iya neighborhood in eastern Gaza after the ceasefire, was forced to return to southern Gaza with 20 members of his family last week.

He, who was trying to rebuild his half-destroyed house, once again preferred displacement to continuing to stay in this neighborhood, which is located in eastern Gaza and in the area known as the "Yellow Line", and there is not a day that goes by without explosions, airstrikes, and a few artillery shells terrifying the residents.

Today, Al-Mayadeen correspondent reported that the Shuja`iya neighborhood has been completely destroyed and razed to the ground. Mohammed Al-Awadiyah, a reporter for the network, said that the occupying army has completely destroyed every structure that had remained intact so far, either by bombing or by bulldozers.

Local sources also reported that the sound of heavy explosions throughout the Shuja`iya neighborhood has not stopped for a moment since last night. Streets, houses, and schools that housed the displaced have all been destroyed. The sound of these explosions was so loud that, according to the Hebrew newspaper Ma`ariv, it was heard in occupied Jerusalem.

The ceasefire that began on October 9 was supposed to return hundreds of thousands of displaced people from Khan Yunis and Rafah to their homes in northern Gaza, but the occupying army launches daily air, ground, and even sea attacks on every small pretext.

According to the Gaza Ministry of Public Health, the number of martyrs has reached 366 since the ceasefire, and 938 others have been injured.

In addition to Al-Shuja`iyah, many areas in northern Gaza are also experiencing similar conditions; according to Palestinian media, in recent hours, the Israeli army`s demolition operations have intensified and dozens of residential buildings have been blown up in the east of the Al-Tuffah neighborhood in Gaza City, east of Beit Lahia in the north, and areas behind the "yellow line" in the eastern parts of the Gaza Strip.

Local sources in Al-Bureij camp also reported that the sound of heavy explosions was heard throughout the camp and surrounding areas. The intensity of these explosions is such that their sound was heard as far as areas outside Gaza in the Zionist settlements, causing panic among the settlers.

The attacks were not limited to northern Gaza, but the occupation has also launched several attacks in the southern areas of Khan Yunis and Rafah.

Israeli warplanes bombed areas east of Rafah and Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip, Al Jazeera reported, while areas east of Khan Yunis and north of Gaza City were targeted by artillery fire. Field observers say the occupation forces are continuing their consistent pattern of emptying large areas of residents through airstrikes and demolitions. The Palestinian news agency Shehab also reported that the occupation army is trying to expand its operations beyond what is known as the “yellow line.”
