The President of Syria, Bashar Assad, has called on Russian companies to participate in the rebuilding of Syria under favourable conditions.
This statement was made on the 12th of April by a member of the Federation Council, Dmitry Sablin, following his meeting in Damascus with the head of Syria.
According to Mr Sablin, it was the Prime Minister of Syria, Vail Nadir el Halki, who announced that Syria is interested in the participation of Russian construction companies in the country’s rebuilding.
The civil war in Syria began in the early spring of 2011 and sprang from nationwide protests against the government of President Bashar al-Assad. The conflict caused a considerable displacement of the population.
