Israeli occupation authorities on Sunday first hours have opened the Gaza valley dams East Gaza, with no prior warning, flooding about 30 homes in Al-Mighraqa area.

Mayor of Al-Mighraqa, Youssef Abu Huwayshel, in a statement which PNN recieved, said that the municipality received phone calls from residents, complaining about the flooding of tens of homes, after the water level rose to about 3 meters.

More than 30 homes were completely flooded. Residents evacuated the area in cooperation with the civil defense by 5 AM.

Head of the civil defense in Gaza, Karim Dahshan, said that the opening took place all of a sudden. He assured that Israeli authorities have not given any notice or warning regarding the opening of the dam.

The water has accumulated in Gaza after the winter storm Jana, which began on Thursday and ended on Saturday.
