The current Issue 29 of Land Times /أحوال الأرض seeks to fill some of the gaps in current discourse on the most pressing issues facing the human habitat. It looks beyond contradictions between words and actions to identify the applicable norms that are often forgotten and the need for data, including available data, to avoid suffering and conflict.
Joining efforts to commemorate World Habitat Day, HIC-HLRN reminds readers of progress in standard setting, but also how these standards need to be operationalized. This LT also exposes the common ground shared by sustainable development and human rights, as well as the further steps needed to be taken upon it.
The 29th issue focuses on developments in the Middle East/North Africa, but also spans the globe to enlist practical solidarity for thousands of Chilean families facing forced eviction and to report efforts to bring people’s voices and proposals to global policy forums on the 2030 Agenda, food sovereignty and loss and damage associated with climate change.
