Brief narrative

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Saturday morning opened fire at Palestinian fishermen and farmers in Gaza Strip.

According to local sources, Israeli forces stationed along the eastern border of Gaza opened their machinegun fire at Palestinian farmers.

No injuries were reported during the shooting attack.

Meanwhile, Israeli war boats opened fire at a number of Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of Gaza.

The fishermen were forced to return ashore. Luckily, no one was injured in the assault.

Under an inhumane siege, the Israeli army keeps attacking, injuring and killing civilians, farmers and fishermen almost on a daily basis, without any shred of respect for the Egyptian-brokered ceasefire deal in Gaza or even the international law.

Israeli Forces Fire Towards Fishermen, Farmers, Bird Hunters in Gaza

Israeli forces fired towards Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip on at least three separate instances on Tuesday morning, witnesses said, without causing any injuries.

Witnesses said Israeli troops stationed at the border fence between Gaza and Israel opened fire towards farmlands in the area of al-Umour on the outskirts of the town of al-Fukhari, in the southern Gaza Strip district of Khan Yunis. No casualties were reported.

East of Gaza City, Israeli troops fired towards Palestinian farmers and bird hunters, without causing injuries. At sea, Israeli naval forces opened fire in the direction of fishing boats off the coasts of Khan Yunis and Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, according to Ma’an News Agency.

An Israeli army spokesperson said that they were looking into the reports.Israeli army incursions inside the Palestinian territory have long been a near-daily occurrence, as the Israeli army regularly opens fire on unarmed Palestinian fishermen and farmers along the border areas if they approach Israel’s unilaterally declared “buffer zone,” which lies on both the land and sea sides of Gaza.

Gazan fishermen, whose numbers are estimated to be around 4,000, have suffered from the near decade-long siege of the Gaza Strip, which limits their fishing to just six nautical miles into the sea in accordance with the ceasefire agreement signed with Palestinian factions in 2014.

Earlier this month, a Palestinian fisherman went missing after an encounter with Israeli forces off the coast of Gaza, with his family announcing his death days later despite his body having yet to be recovered.
